He forgets his own name somewhere in the tunnel to Penn Station. ![]()

Woolf's changing representation of feminism in publications from 1920 to 1940 parallels her involvement with the contemporary women's movement (suffragism and its descendants, and the pacifist, working-class Women's Co-operative Guild). Rather than a book only about war, Black considers it to be the best, clearest presentation of Woolf's feminism. ![]() Grounding Virginia Woolf's feminist beliefs in the everyday world, Naomi Black reclaims Three Guineas as a major feminist document. Before the Second World War and long before the second wave of feminism, Virginia Woolf argued that women's experience, particularly in the women's movement, could be the basis for transformative social change. ![]() 5/30/2023 0 Comments Vanity fair novel without a hero![]() ![]() The frontispiece is a fine photogravure portrait of Thackeray, printed in a soft sepia tone. For the reductionistic and debunking approach that Aslan employs has been tried by dozens of commentators for at least the past 300 years, and the debunkers have been themselves debunked over and over again by serious scholars of the historical Jesus. When I saw that Reza Aslan’s portrait of “Jesus, Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth,” had risen to number one on the New York Times bestseller list, I must confess, I was both disappointed and puzzled. ![]() 5/29/2023 0 Comments Heated by J.C. There are two to three more lower-extremity injuries per year per surface on slit film, which means that across MetLife Stadium, Ford Field, Lucas Oil Stadium, Paycor Stadium, Caesars Superdome and U.S. While the NFL admits that lower-extremity injuries are up on slit film surfaces, there's more to it. Wrote Tretter: "The slit film playing surface has statistically higher in-game injury rates compared to all other surfaces for each of the following: non-contact injuries, missed time injuries, lower extremity injuries and foot and ankle injuries." Union president JC Tretter called on the league to immediately remove and ban slit film turf in the six NFL stadiums that have it installed. On Saturday, the NFL Players Association went on the offensive. Essentially, there are hardly more lower-extremity injuries on turf than grass. Last Wednesday, the NFL released a chart showing how the rate of lower-extremity injuries on natural grass versus synthetic turf fields has a "statistically insignificant" difference. The debate over playing surfaces is resurfacing in the NFL. ![]() |
